Have you ever nipped into Starbucks and wondered if your barista fancied you a little bit?
Your hands brushed innocently while they passed you the drink, they seemed to be smiling a little wider at you? But you’re just not sure if you were misreading the signs?
Well, according to one employee from the coffee chain, there’s actually a very simple way to tell if your barista was flirting with you during your visit.
A TikTok user named @boybellers, who works as a barista, explained all in a video and according to the 23-year-old, you need to pay special attention to your cup when you leave.
In the clip, he said: “If you’re ever wondering if your barista’s flirting with you, this is how to find out right.”
He then proceeded to show a normal Starbucks cup, with the different tick boxes on it for milk, syrup, number of shots etc.
Below this he points out a bit of writing that says: “Careful, the beverage you’re about to enjoy is extremely hot”.
Bellers goes on to explain that if the barista fancied you, they might scribble out some of the text, so that the cup just says: “Careful, you’re extremely hot”.
He adds: “Check your cups guys.”
The video, which has since been viewed more than one million times, was captioned: “Top tip from your fav barista.”
Thousands of people commented on the post, with one writing: “I DO THIS TO CUSTOMERS!”
Another said: “My barista always does this to me.”
Others were sad they ordered iced coffees, so their cups didn’t have the same message on.
However, a few people pointed out that staff doing this could get them in trouble.
“I would really suggest not doing that,” posted someone else. “Because if they get burned from the drink they can technically sue because the warning was covered.”
A different user proclaimed: “Imagine being burnt by the coffee and then being able to sue because they crossed out the disclaimer.”
Bellers later confirmed he had not done this himself at work, but knew of a few baristas that had.
